ICF Woodfuel Discussion
An exciting opportunity to visit Europe’s largest coal-fired power station who are in the process of developing their biomass co-firing capacity. The event will also feature a discussion on delivering the England Woodfuel Strategy and meeting the challenges associated with our renewable energy targets. The morning session will include a series of presentations / discussion on the woodfuel strategy and regional woodfuel delivery. The afternoon will provide an opportunity to hear how Drax are taking forward biomass co-firing and includes a tour of the power plant.

Opening of Bellingham Heritage Centre
Northwoods have been advising throughout the process of installing and supplying both the wood chip boiler and also the wood chip supply, which has been supplied by the NE wood fuel producer group NEWFuels.

NE England Forests and Climate Change Conference
This event will help to improve understanding of the role of trees, woodlands and forests in tackling climate change and to explore the opportunities and challenges that climate change brings to the sector.
RDI’s project director of Northwoods, David Clubb, will be speaking about the economic benefits of biomass in this context.

The Woodland Intiatives Network is a partnership based organisation that supports the work of the woodland initiatives.
RDI has membership of the steering group and represents the interests of the Yorwoods and Northwoods partnerships. The group meets three times a year.

Future Energy Yorkshire Biomass CPD course
Future Energy Yorkshire has developed a CPD Course in Biomass. The aim of the course is to provide a comprehensive overview of the biomass energy sector.
The first five day course ran from the 19th May 2008 and due to this being a huge success and the course being over subscribed they are now running the course again from October 13th-17th 2008.

Ignite Woodfuel Training – Durham
Ignite was developed in the North East of England in 2004 and since then has grown into the UK’s only integrated woodfuel training course leading to a recognised qualification from Lantra Awards. Over 500 people have benefitted from the Ignite course which is delivered by a team of experienced and enthusiastic trainers
