Timber Harvesting and Extraction Demonstration
28/02/2013
Event Details
Cumbria Woodlands have commissioned Rural Development Initiatives to organise a series of Forestry Demonstrations. This is the fourth of five and to be held at a Woodland Trust woodland near Carlisle.
Cutting it down is the easy bit! Getting it out is harder and this demonstration will focus upon practical, workable solutions to extracting smaller quantities of harvested timber. Equipment to be demonstrated will include:
- An Alpine tractor with timber winch and timber crane
- Tracked Forcat mini-skidder
- Micro-Arb Truc, a mechanised barrow for transporting different lengths and diameters of timber
- Petrol capstan winch
Numbers are limited for the event and booking is essential, please contact Clare Dyson at clare@cumbriawoodlands.co.uk for more information.
The closest postcode for the event is CA8 2QT which is the crossroads down to the visitors car park.
