The LEADER programme, funded by the European Union and Defra, and managed by Yorkshire Forward is intended to provide a bottom up approach to address needs identified by local communities.

Work is about to start on a pilot project to reduce flood risk in the Pickering and Sinnington areas.


A three year partnership project between Yorwoods, Future Energy Yorkshire and the South Yorkshire Forest Partnership to help accelerate the woodfuel renewable enregy sector in the region by making capital investments and business support available to the woody biomass supply chain. The RFS has a new competition for forestry and woodland which is running in the North East and Yorkshire.  There is the potential for prizes worth up to £1,000 in each of 5 categories:

Yorwoods have been successful in assisting a number of forestry businesses in the region access funding through the Rural Enterprise Investment Programme. The REIP is a programme of funding available through Yorkshire Forward for targeting rural development focused projects. Funding is available to forestry businsess amongst others, for a whole host of projects including supply chain added value activity, infrastructure investments and woodfuel developments. Yorwoods has supported a number of businesses putting together buisness plans and applications to the fund.

Yorwoods are now six months into a three year programme of support for woodland owners in West Yorkshire. The project will provide advice, information and guidance for woodland owners to help them bring the significantly untapped woodland resource of West Yorkshire back into productive management.
