North East Woodfuel Week, Oct 16-21st

Northwoods are working with the Forestry Commission to run the North East’s first ever Woodfuel Week! Taking place October 16 – 21st, the week will feature a series of events across the region to raise awareness of the woodfuel sector:

 

Northumberland Firewood Fair 2011

Meldon Park Estate, near Morpeth – Sunday October 16th

The fair will feature a large auction of firewood and firewood grade roundwood, along with trade stands for woodfuel stoves and boilers, firewood processing equipment and woodland management equipment. Free to visit, the event will offer firewood users the chance to view a range of products before they buy and meet local suppliers. Barningham Estate, near Barnard Castle – Friday October 21st

Afternoon events aimed at anyone involved in the woodfuel supply chain, but focussing on woodland owners interested in making the most of their woodland resources. The event will introduce the bioeNErgy grant scheme, though which capital grants are available towards equipment and infrastructure for the harvest, processing and storage of woodlfuel, and also the new Forestry Commission dedicated Woodfuel Woodland Improvement Grant which provides grant support to manage woodlands for woodfuel production. The events will take place 1.30 – 4.00pm, with presentations followed by a woodland walk to demonstrate the range of activities that could be supported.
