The following one day Ignite training courses are taking place throughout March, organised as part of the North Pennine Dales Woodfuel Project. Courses are open to anyone working in the sector – whether an established business or looking to get into woodfuel.

Northwoods are launching a new project focussed on providing support to woodfuel businesses in the North Pennine Dales area – Teesdale, Weardale, west Derwentside and south Tynedale. We will be delivering training courses in the area, supporting businesses to work towards quality assurance and HETAS accreditation, and offering one to one technical business support and advice. The project is being funded by the North Pennine Dales Leader.

If you produce firewood, woodchips or pellets as a fuel, or are considering using them as a fuel, this course is a must.  It introduces the latest standards for solid biofuels in use in the UK, provides the methodology for sampling fuel and covers quality assurance processes. The course involves a practical on how to sample fuel products accurately.

We need a survey completing which will only take 10 minutes to complete.  It’s an online form which is really simple to complete and will tell us about any woodfuel realted training you’ve done in the past or are likely to need in the future.  We’ll use this information to assist with writing the structure of a European woodfuel production training course for Europe’s woodfuel entreprenures – which we’ll then go on to deliver at some point in the future.

Happy New Year from the team. We’ll be delivering an exciting range of projects in 2012, continuing to work to support the forestry and woodfuel sectors across the North East. There are dedicated woodfuel projects running across both the Northumberland Uplands and North Pennine Dales, alongside training courses, grant provision, and biomass expertise and technical advice to support your business. Flooding, wildfire and red squirrel conservation work also continues. Browse the website or give us a call to find out more – we look forward to hearing from you soon!
