Training

A significant amount of our portfolio is based on training and workforce development programmes in the land based industries. We're incredibly proud to have won a National Training Award in the category sponsored by the Learning and Skills Council, where we picked up the 'Employer Response' award for innovation in a new emerging industry. Whilst it's always nice to get something for the trophy cabinet, it's not why we do so much work in the field of training and development. Our staff often "cut their teeth" by taking on the day to day running of a training project, as the intensive nature of this kind of project, and the relationships that individuals and teams forge with the beneficiaries, are critical foundations for much of our other work.

RDI deliver training courses that make a genuine difference to beneficiaries and, for the most part, are driven by requests from the businesses, organisations and individuals that make up our rural economy. Projects which are top-down, or are conceived as a response to the availability of funding, are destined to fail from the outset. RDI will often work as the facilitator between the public sector funders and the SME and microbusinesses of the British countryside, determining need, matching this to funding and then getting on with the important business of delivery.

A number of our staff are accredited Lantra Awards instructors, sit on influential committees including the Lantra Trees and Timber Industry Group, Scottish School of Forestry Advisory Committee and the ICF Education Committee, and are experienced as hands-on trainers, lecturers and assessors in a variety of fields.

RDI have produced a wide range of training and development materials and full courses, on topics as diverse as woodfuel supply to high hedges legislation and wildfire fighting. We'd be only too happy to work with you and other partners to develop and deliver new training courses to meet your needs and those of your target audiences.
