EWWF to meet with government

Following the spate of serious wildfires across the UK in Spring 2011, members of the England and Wales Wildfire Forum are to meet with representatives of the Cabinet Office, Department of Communities and Local Government and the Department of Environment, Food and Rural Affairs to discuss the current situation with regard to wildfire risk management, including both prevention and suppression.

Wildfires across England have caused significant damage to large areas of moorland, heathland and forest in Spring 2011 and impacted on fire service resilience across the country. The University of Manchester is undertaking research into the affects of the fires and hope to present initial findings at Wildfire 2011.

Rural Development Initiatives provide the Secretariat for the England and Wales Wildfire Forum. More information on the EWWF can be found on this site and also at http://wildfireforum.ning.com/.
