A project for which Rural Development Initiatives Ltd prepared a feasibility study and business plan has successfully secured funding from the Rural Development Programme for England (RDPE) to develop a more sustainable management regime of wild deer in the East of England. The project will run by the Deer Initiative and last until December 2013.
The aim of this project is to provide an integrated approach to the delivery of sustainable land and woodland management. It will develop an infrastructure in the region, through the development of a wild venison food supply chain, to allow culled wild deer to be marketed to in the first instance local food outlets and then direct to the end consumer at home and abroad.
The Deer Initiative are now recruiting for somebody to manage the project. The original job advert is attached to this news item, and more details are available at The Deer Initiative Website here.
