The Ignite wood fuel training course began the way all good projects should – with a request direct from a number of companies working in the forestry and farming sectors. Since its inception in 2004, the Ignite course has been a runaway success, introducing hundreds of businesses and individuals to the fundamentals of wood fuel production and supply. Constantly revised and updated to keep abreast of the ever-changing policy landscape, as well as technical developments in the industry, Ignite courses have run from Ullapool in the north to the New Forest on the south coast, and dozens of locations in between.
Ignite has spurred a number of companies to embark on new business ventures in the rapidly expanding UK wood fuel market. Applying the knowledge and skills gained on the course, many of these companies are now actively participating in the wood fuel supply chain as producers and suppliers. Ignite has also played a key role in educating and informing a far wider audience than originally intended – Forestry Commission staff, energy consultants, plumbers, local authority officers and Business Link advisors have all participated in courses and actively contributed to the exciting learning atmosphere that accompanies every course. The contribution that Ignite has made to the development of the UK woodfuel sector was recognised with a National Training Award in 2006.
Ignite is a series of training courses on the production and supply of woodfuel. The series includes the award winning 3 day Ignite Intensive course that provides a technical award in woodfuel production and supply from Lantra Awards. We also run additonal modules to compliment and expland the knowledge learned from the 3-day Intensive course.
