England & Wales Wildfire Forum

The England and Wales Wildfire Forum comprises of representatives from organisations committed to reducing the harmful impact of unwanted wildfire occurrences in England and Wales. The purpose of the Forum is to create a focus for joint working between all interested organisations within England and Wales that will lead to the development of strategic initiatives for improved management of wildfire risk and their communication to government, stakeholders and the wider community.

The Forum consists of a wide range of statutory bodies, agencies, NGO's and representative bodies. It is chaired by Alex Bennett, the Chief Fire Officer of Northumberland Fire & Rescue Service and wildfire portfolio holder for the Chief Fire Officers Association (CFOA). The Vice-Chair is Simon Thorp, Director of the Heather Trust. Rural Development Initiatives provide the secretariat for the EWWF.

The EWWF is governed by a Memorandum of Understanding and works towards implementing an agreed Action Plan.

To progress the above purpose the Forum will work together to achieve the following Aims which will be delivered through the EWWF Action Plan: -
1. Achieve appropriate recognition of wildfire as an issue in England and Wales
2. Promote the highest standards of practice in managing wildfire risk including prevention, response and recovery
3. Facilitate communication between Forum members and other stakeholders
4. Facilitate the ongoing operation of the Forum
